In this video Neal and Kim give some tips on how to insert the latex into your Spindle. They demonstrate both the “shake” and “bubble” techniques.
Keep in mind:
• 2 people are needed to assemble the mattress, especially when you get into any size larger than a twin.
• the case for a king bed almost looks square so, when building your mattress, make sure that the case is on the bed the correct way.
• a good rule of thumb is to make sure that the zipper start/finish is at the head [or foot] of the bed.
Also, don’t be surprised if it seems that the case seems too small; that the latex appears that it will never fit. Trust us: it does. We purposely make the case very tight [think about jeans when you take them right out of the dryer]. It will loosen up over time.
The following is a transcript of the video:
So today we’re going to look at how to insert our latex inside our zipper cover. Before we start that, two quick tips. Remember having two people is very beneficial, latex is heavy and flexible, having an extra person will help insert this in. Also give yourself some space, move a nightstand, lamp out of the way. That space will be a lot easier to manage a heavy piece of flexible latex.
So now we’re going to demonstrate how to do the wave motion. And this is where a second person comes in very handy. As you will see, the latex will be bigger than the cover and like a rubber band, it expands and contracts. As I do my wave motion, Kim is on the other side to catch it and prevent it from going over. And in order to do the wave, just lift up and down like you’re shaking a rug into place. That up and down motion will help shrink the latex inside of the cover.
So the other way to help insert the latex inside the smaller zipper cover is the buckling method. And the way that we do that is you stick your hand underneath the latex and build a bubble. And then you can shrink it in by pushing in. You insert your hand underneath, build a bubble there and you can see that helps shrink the latex inside of the zipper cover.
The other tip that we’d like to show you is when you have other layers of latex stacked on top of each other. What you want to avoid doing is pulling or yanking on the latex. You want to use the two methods we’ve already discussed. Either using the wave motion or the buckling to help align the layers of latex.
So those are a few tips on how to insert your latex inside of your new zipper cover. If you have any other questions about how to assemble your mattress, feel free to send us an email, give us a call. We’re happy to help. Otherwise, enjoy your new mattress.
