    Sales Tax

    2 min read

When it comes to sales tax, Spindle only collects from purchases made in Illinois and Massachusetts. So if you're making a purchase from another state, you won't be charged by Spindle.

Why does Spindle not collect sales tax in other states beyond Massachusetts and Illinois?

We don't have economic nexus in other states at this time, so we're not required to collect sales tax. However, it's always a good idea to check with your state's requirements for paying sales tax on online purchases.

    What is economic nexus?

In short, it means that we have a significant enough presence in a state to be required to collect sales tax. This usually means having a physical location in the state, but it can also mean having a certain amount of sales or transactions in the state. Right now, we don't have economic nexus in any other states, so we're not required to collect sales tax in those states. However, this could change in the future as our business grows. So if you're ever unsure about whether or not we're collecting sales tax in your state, just check our website or give us a call, and we'll be happy to let you know.

Do I need to pay sales tax to the State?

Unfortunately, we can't give you a definitive answer, as it depends on the state you live in. Some states require you to report out-of-state purchases when you file your taxes, while others do not. So if you're not sure whether or not you should pay sales tax on your Spindle mattress, our advice is to consult with your state's tax authorities or a certified accountant. They'll be able to give you the definitive answer. So if you're making a big purchase from another state, be sure to check the rules before you buy.
