Our foundation uses a KD -- knock down -- design. You assemble it at home, just like your Spindle mattress. No tools are required. The frame goes together quickly with carriage bolts and wing nuts. The slat kit attaches with velcro at the head and foot of the bed. A fitted organic cotton cover that matches our mattress goes over the wood frame like a fitted sheet.
Height: 8" [approximately]
Type of Wood: Kiln-Dried Canadian Spruce-Pine-Fur #2 lumber.
Slats: A queen size uses 15 slats. The slats are 1x3 lumber so the true measurement is approximately 3/4" thick and 2-5/8" wide. Keep mind that this is a target and the thickness and width may vary plus or minus 3/8".
Spacing: The slats are space approximately 2.75".
Center Support: There is an additional brace running head and foot to support the slats.
The foundations are built to satisfy the needs of an latex mattress like ours, but keep in mind your bed is a system that is greater than the sum of its parts and it's important that all your pieces work together. Proper support is needed for the foundation, too.
